If we are honest about ourselves, we have to admit we are constantly sinning – if not by actions alone, at least through our thoughts. We do have a very big problem, which God calls “Sin”. Because God is perfect and holy, we stand condemned before Him as sinners. We have offended Him in the worst way, and even though He loves us, our sins will forever prevent us from having a good relationship with Him. To make this worse, there’s nothing we can do to repair the damage. We can be a really good person, or at least try to be, but we will never be able to change What We Are. We Are Sinners and that will forever separate us from Almighty God.

Well, that’s the bad news, but God has provided a way for us to be forgiven. That’s the Good News! We can have peace with God – if we will humble ourselves. Even though we are sinners, God has demonstrated His love toward us by sending His only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross in our place. The concept of “Substitution” is very important to understand. If we die without a Substitute, we will answer for our sins and be condemned for all eternity, but if we will put our trust in the only Substitute (Jesus) that satisfies God and His righteousness, we can have eternal life. Jesus is the spotless, sinless, perfect Lamb of God, who died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose from the grave. He will save anyone who will humble themselves and put their trust in Him.

Most people think they will go to heaven because they think they have been good enough. At the end of the day, God will add it all up and they will be okay – but a sinner is never good enough. No amount of good works or good intentions changes a person from being a sinner – to not being a sinner. That’s why all of us need to put our faith and trust in Jesus. He is our Substitute. Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we can be forgiven, and finally have peace with God.

Won’t you trust in Him today?

In your own words, just ask Him in prayer to forgive you and to save you from your sins and the coming judgment.

If you’ve trusted in Jesus as your Savior, we would love to hear your story!
